We did it!

We made it to her first day of school without shedding a single tear!!!  The last few weeks Ryan has had major separation anxiety issues with leaving me.  This is the same child who has never in her whole life cared about going anywhere or staying with anyone.  So it's been really weird and hard on everyone!  I decided it was because she was with me all summer and the thought of being away in a new class with new friends just freaked her out.  We talked about it a ton and tried to get her okay with the idea.  She cried anytime we said the word "preschool" and held on to my leg the whole time at meet your teacher on Tuesday. When she got in the car afterwards she cried and said she didn't want to go to preschool.   Needless to say I was dreading this morning!!  She said she was nervous and wanted to bring her bunny Claire to hold if she got sad.  She walked right in and gave me a hug and said bye!  When I picked her up she said she had so much fun and loved school.  I asked her if she wanted to go back next week she said "of course!"

Drew has no idea what's going on

Drew missed his sissy and insisted that she lay with him before his nap

Also Drew slept through the night in the big boy bed!  He woke up yelling mommy at 6:30 and was sitting on the ground looking for his bear.  I put him back in bed and he went right back to sleep.  He is asleep for his nap in it right now.  We are moving the crib out this weekend!

Big Boy

A couple of months ago we got Ryan a new twin bed and just put the toddler bed in the corner of Drew's room so we didn't have to store it in the attic for a few months.  The kids have liked laying on it together and reading books.  I haven't really tried to get him to sleep in it because I didn't think he was ready and he is barely 21 mos so it's kinda early. But today he walked in for his nap and said "Yo Babba bed" (It has Yo Gabba Gabba sheets on it). I asked him if he wanted to sleep in the big boy bed and he said yes.  He went right to sleep and slept for 2 hours until I woke him up for a hair appt. Ryan and I made a big deal about how he was a big boy when he got up and he seemed pretty proud of himself.

Then tonight before bed I asked him if he wanted to sleep in his big boy bed and sure enough he said yes and hopped right in.  He went straight to sleep again. Crossing my fingers that he stays in it all night.  Let's hope this continues and we are finished with a crib forever!

He also got a new shorter haircut today and looks so old. I will post a picture once I can get him to stand still long enough.   I can't believe my baby is growing up to fast!

Our friends Kenneth and Lori adopted the sweetest little boy Tripp.  We have loved going over and snuggling with him (especially Ryan). We couldn't be happier for them!

Ryan has been to lots of birthday parties recently.

Summer pictures

We got the kids pictures taken by Kristi Morton with Twice Blessed Photography a couple of weeks ago.  Despite the temperature being over 100 they turned out really cute!

Starting to go crazy...

with these temperatures! From the looks of it we aren't going to get any relief soon.

Going swimming has started to not even be refreshing anymore because the pool feels more like bath water and everything the kids touch burns them.  I have had to get a little more creative to keep them entertained!

We have been doing lots of cooking/baking

Playing with Chalk before breakfast and while the temps are only in the upper 90's

Feeding the ducks while they are still wet from the pool.

Making new crayons with all of the old broken ones (thanks Jill!)
